          1. The renewable energy industry is one of the fastest growing in the world and Canada is falling behind. In 2014, the Canadian government invested $6.5 billion in renewable energy while China has spent $55 billion.

          2. Canada leads the world in the decline of intact forests. Canadian forests make up 21% of global loss. Mr. Harper’s government has not shown any initiative to deal with the issue.

          3. Mr. Harper had Parks Canada spend millions of dollars on the Franklin Expedition despite drastic budget cuts. This led to a reduction in crucial programs such as forest monitoring programs and wildlife conservation.

          5. In 2012, Mr. Harper used the omnibus budget bill C-38 to rewrite the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.  The environmental impact of thousands of industrial projects, including oil sands projects, was no longer reviewable by the Federal Government.

          6. Health Minister Rona Ambrose says that heroin assisted treatment for addicts is not effective, despite significant evidence to the contrary. The Insite Drug Treatment Program was challenged in the Supreme Court of Canada by Mr. Harper’s Government.  The court ruled that it would be unconstitutional to ban an evidently successful health program.

          7. Canadians were prevented from knowing about antibiotic resistant superbugs due to the restriction of data coming from the Public Health Agency of Canada.

          8. Mr. Harper severely cut funding to the internationally renowned Experimental Lakes Area, a research site for the study of water pollution and lake ecosystems. The research site was forced to resort to crowdsourcing to survive.
